How To Add Optical Illusions To Your Fidget Spinner

Are your kids on a fidget spinner mania like the rest of the world? Mine are. Even me. I catch myself randomly grabbing them from the table and spinning them.

However, lately I noticed that my kids ran out of things to play with fidget spinners so I decided to level up and make this toy exciting again.

We added optical illusions to it.

Optical illusion is not a new thing. But adding them to fidget spinners might be a fun new way to play with them.

Add Optical Illusions To Your Fidget Spinner

You will need:

  • Fidget (obviously)
  • double sided tape
  • Optical Illusions graphics template (scroll down the page for it)

What to do:

  1. Print the template. There are 6 different ones. Cut the graphics out.
  2. Take the top part of the fidget off (if there is one).
  3. Stick the double sided tape on all sides of the fidget and press down the cut out illusion graphics.

In the beginning we had trouble spinning the fidget spinners with the paper on top, but later we got the hang of it. We found that holding the top part of the spinner and twisting makes the fidget spinner spin best. However, experiment with it to find your own perfect way.

The science behind the optical illusion

A persistence of vision illusion occurs when several discrete images are quickly spinning and changing before the eye. Notice that the colors, designs and shapes change. Some illusions have drastical change. Visual illusions occur due to properties of the visual areas of the brain as they receive and process information. In other words, your perception of an illusion has more to do with how your brain works -- and less to do with the optics of your eye. Pretty cool, huh?

Leave me your name and best email address and I will send you FREE template in a minute.
