Spin and Skip toy was my favorite childhood toy. It still is, especially after we made one and I got to remember how fun it is. I can still picture myself at that very spot right outside our home, next to that big tree with my best friend spinning and skipping until it was dark... Good memories for sure...

My husband made his childhood toy last week that kids had absolutely loved it. This was my turn to "show off". And I think I did. Judging by the amount of time was spent playing with this new toy.
To make a spin and Skip toy you will need
- Rope or cord (we used old phone’s cable)
- Small empty plastic soda bottle
- Some beans
Instructions
- Open the bottle cap.
- Make the hole in the bottle cap.
- Put the rope/cord through it and tie a knot.
- Pour some beans or popcorn 1/3 of the bottle
- Close the cap.
- Make the ankle strap.
The name of the toy explains it all: Spin (with the leg that the bottle is attached to) and skip (with the other leg). It’s super fun to play with this toy. It will take few trials to perfect the jumping but child will get it eventually.
It’s a perfect outdoor physical activity, which requires surprisingly minimal coordination, keeps kids entertained, can be played alone or with friends, and expends all that extra energy bundled up in preschoolers and older children.
It could also be a fun neighborhood game for kids. Just make few of Spin and Skip toys and let them race who will spin longest without stopping.
How about you?
Do you have your favorite childhood toy? And do you remember this Spinning and Skipping toy? Please share with me in the comments below. I am really curious to know.
