Chapped and dry lips are a common problem during cold weather. Especially with kids. SO, I was on a look out for homemade lip balm recipe. I did go through a lot of them and decided to make my own by adding things that my family love: chocolate and orange. You can't go wrong with those two.

Homemade lip balm recipe
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 Tbsp coconut oil
1 Tbsp grated beeswax
1 tsp honey
5 drops Orange Essential Oil
1/2 tsp cocoa powder
Also you will need a container to put your lip balm. We reused little glass container.
In a double boiler: pour olive oil, coconut oil, beeswax and honey. Mix it well so all the oils melt. Add cocoa powder. After the mass cools down just a bit, add your essential oils. Mix it well again and pour into your lip balm container(s). Keep it in a cool place until it hardens. Mine did in about an hour in the fridge.
You are ready to use your own homemade chocolate lip balm with some orange touch. Ahhh... even the smell of it is making me smile...
This homemade lip balm is perfect and thoughtful gift for someone really special. Just add little touches to the lip balm container and give it to your best friend for Valentine's day. We glued on a small giraffe toy on top of the lid to make it more fun for Sofia's friend who happened to love chocolate and giraffes.
If you love orange chocolate (I assume there are very few people who don't) then you will love this lip balm for sure. It has the sweetness of the cocoa and the tartness from the orange essential oil. Besides making my lips softer and tasting good this balm boost my mood every time I put it on. It just makes me smile.
Our homemade lip balm saved the day! True Story...
Be warned! This homemade lip balm recipe is addictive. You and your kids will love it and won't go anywhere without it. It is SO MUCH better then buying those commercial lip balms full of chemicals. Plus, it's a fun activity to do with the kids.
