Homemade Perfume For Kids With Only 2 Ingredients

If your daughter (or son) is anything like mine - this homemade perfume recipe will be a big change in your life. In many ways...

You see, since my daughter was a little girl she loved smells. Good smells. As soon as we would go visit grandma, first thing she would run to was my mom's bedroom to smell all the perfume bottles. She would inhale one after the other...

Let me say that I don't think little girls particularly NEED perfume. But what's mama to do when they just love it...

I was actually against it until I found a way to make the most fanciest and delicious perfume myself which is also beneficial for my child's health.

Now, my daughter wears this perfume. Even I wear it (and I am not a 'perfume person') and we get a lot of compliments...

Commercial body sprays and perfume are dangerous

Did you know that that the most popular perfume brands don't list the most dangerous chemicals on their bottles...These chemicals actually can cause hormone dis-balance, sperm damage, hormone disruption (which is linked to some cancers, thyroid disease, obesity, diabetes, and other serious health problems), reproductive toxicity, and allergy problems.

To illustrate better why commercial beauty products (including perfume and body sprays) are bad for you, watch this video. (I have shared it already on our homemade lotion for kids post., but I love this video so much, because it really tells the whole story).

So here it goes....

Homemade Perfume Recipe

This perfume recipe fills up a 4oz glass bottle.

  • Organic Vanilla extract (4oz/118 ml bottle)
  • JOY Essential Oil Blend. (5ml or about 65 drops) (it's essential oil blend of Bergamot , Ylang ylang, Geranium, Lemon, Coriander, Tangerine, Jasmine, Roman chamomile, Palmarosa, Rose. 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oil *100% pure absolute).

I buy my essential oils wholesale. Here is how I do it.

Pour vanilla extract and the JOY essential oil in refillable glass spray bottle (or travel size bottles), shake it well and try your new DIY perfume. It would be ideal to wait few days for the oils and the vanilla extract to blend into each other.

You can, of course, use different oils. Experiment which ones you like most to find your best scent.

Does it stain clothes?

I taught my daughter not to use a lot of perfume (even it's as natural as this). She only uses it on her wrists and tiny bit on her neck. It hasn't stained clothes yet.

How long does it last?

Since vanilla extract has alcohol, this homemade perfume does last pretty long. The essential oils absorb in the skin pretty well too so you can feel pleasant smell all day long for sure.

How long can you use this perfume?

up to 6 months from the day you make it. Me and my daughter both use our 4oz bottle perfume, so I think we will be able to finish it.

It's more than a homemade perfume...

Yes, it smells good and it's natural, no toxins and other very dangerous chemicals. But what I love most about it, is that it has therapeutic  health benefits. This particular JOY essential oil blend has oils that can help you relax, but at the same time energize and uplift your mood.

For example, lemon oil has powerful antioxidant; and may be beneficial for the skin. It has cleansing and purifying properties.

Palmarosa oil supports the digestive system and is stimulating and soothing to the body and mind.

Geranium essential oil is in the blend too. It helps you relax and beautify your skin. Used traditionally to support the circulatory and nervous systems, a great deal of its strength lies in its ability to revitalize body tissues.

    Greets!

I'm planning on doing this for my 11-year old daughter, but from the recipe I can't tell how many drops of organic vanilla extract to use in the bottle with the 65 drops or so of the JOY Essential Oil Blend.

    Please advise? Thanks much!
