Moreover, the first lines were initially published in The Outlook, a weekly newspaper (New York City, 1939). Since 1944, the song’s copyrights belong to Freda Silicoff, Indiana.

Andrew Kaye, an eminent neurosurgeon, suggested that the first few verses interpret an accidental death.
