Joy to the World Written Lyrics
Joy to The world! the Lord is come
Let earth receive her King
Let ev'ry heart prepare him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
Joy to the world! the Savior reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonder wonders of His love

History and Origin
English Minister and hymnist Isaac Watts had written this song based on the verses from the Bible, Psalm 98.
The song was first published in 'The Psalms of David' in Watt's collection in 1719, which was imitated in the New Testament's language and applied to 'Christian State and Worship.'
Today, the carol is so popular that you will see it in most of North America's hymn books.
Furthermore, Watts believed that the birth of Jesus Christ must be celebrated with a joyful noise. The lines, ‘And Heaven and Nature Sing,’ encourages everyone to sing the Lord’s praises.
Later, Lowell Mason made a few changes to the tune and credited it as ‘arranged from Handel’ since the melody resembles some passages in Handel’s Messiah.
The first four notes of this song are similar to the first four in Messiah's chorus, 'Lift up your hands,' while the hymn's third line can be in 'Comfort Ye.'
