Even the thought of getting house ready for the guests is overwhelming, isn't? Not to mention busy holiday time. Last couple of years I have been actually enjoying having guests over, because I stopped stressing over little things (these tips definitely helped). Therefore, I got over a fact that my house has to be PERFECT. Instead, I decided on picking few essential things on how to guest-proof house without stressing yourself.

How to make your house ready for guests
STACK YOUR BATHROOM
First and foremost you have to stack up with the essentials. Head to the closest shop and grab some must-have products such as tissues, toilet paper rolls and paper towels for instance. After all, you don't really wanna get short on any of these.
USE COLOURFUL JARS TO STORE BATHROOM ESSENTIALS
If your guests are staying overnight, make sure all bathroom essentials such as q-tips, toothbrushes, lotions, soaps are accessible. I gathered some aqua accessories from around my house and added them to the vanity. For instance, I put Q-Tips in a blue glass. Cups, plates, mason jars work well too. It's not only convenient to have everything on hand, but also is a great touch up to the interior.
ADD HOLIDAY DECORATION ACROSS THE HOUSE
Home decor drives home the holiday feeling. Spruce out your home - both inside and out - with candles, lights and more. Of course don't forget to set the dinner table accordingly! Make your house ready for guests - wow them with creative touches to your table decor like name cards, napkin rings, colorful dishware.
Furthermore, I love adding light holiday spirit details in every room, even if it's on toilet paper rolls. Talk about functional decoration. Few pine twigs, flowers, stones you brought from the beach - anything cute will do! Above all, just turn on your imagination and all corners of your house will have that little holiday twist! And voila - you are one step closer to making your house ready for guests!
DIY AIR FRESHENER
Make your house smell good without fancy air fresheners. All you need is to pick your favorite dry whole spices like cinnamon sticks, whole nutmeg berries, cloves, rosemary, pine needles. Next, add it all into a pot with water and a little oil (I used lemon), bring it to simmer on a stove top and wait for your guests. Oh... The compliments you will get!
PREPARE COOL WELCOME DRINKS
Every good home welcome starts with a delicious cool drink! But what if that apple juice you bought last night was left on the kitchen shelf, instead of a fridge? What do you do?!
Wet couple sheets of paper towel, wrap them around the beverage you want to cool and place it in the freezer for up to 10 minutes. Your drink will be freshly cold. Promise!
HAND TOWEL HACK
No clean guest hand towels in the bathroom? No problem. Just rip some sheets of paper towels and place them in the basket on the bathroom sink counter. Such an easy touch up and guests will appreciate them.
PAPPER TISSUES - USEFUL DECORATION
You'll probably have few snack stations set up around the house and a drink table. Thus, everyone is going to walk around chatting, caring food and their drinks...Spill here... Touch there... Not happening, right?!
So, what do you do if you don't want your guests to be reaching for a kitchen towel every time they need to clean their hands. The solution would be to place face tissues all over the house. Next to snack stations, near the sitting areas and at the entrance of the house.
After all, face tissues also come packed in nice boxes and can serve as a home decor element!
PLAN ACTIVITIES IN ADVANCE
If you are hosting friends gathering or family reunion at your place, plan some activities as an ice breaker for the party in advance! Think of games that would fit for all ages, maybe activities that even include little help in the kitchen!
